Designed without compromise for precision dynamics processing, the BA-210 combines an advanced PWM compressor topology with an adjustable saturation circuit and analog peak control.
Every circuit stage was developed to provide predictable operation, repeatable settings and uncompromised signal integrity for modern mastering and mixing workflows.
Features
-
At the heart of the BA-210 is a stereo Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) compressor. Unlike conventional VCA or optical designs, a PWM compressor controls gain by varying the duty cycle of a high-frequency switching signal. The pulse-width modulated control signal is converted into an exceptionally linear gain control element. This topology offers extremely low distortion, minimal compression artifacts and excellent stereo tracking while maintaining fast transient response.
The result is highly transparent dynamic control with virtually inaudible gain reduction, even at higher compression ratios and significant gain reduction levels. Due to its technical complexity, PWM compression remains one of the rarest analog compressor topologies.
-
Following the compressor, the BA-210 features a precisely adjustable saturation stage. This circuit introduces primarily odd harmonic content that increases signal density and enhances perceived presence, particularly throughout the midrange where vocals, guitars and other critical program elements benefit from improved forwardness. At higher settings, the saturation also adds body and weight while preserving overall clarity.
-
The final processing stage is an analog diode-based soft-clipper designed to increase achievable loudness before digital conversion or subsequent limiting. Its smooth transfer characteristic rounds transient peaks progressively rather than abruptly, allowing additional level to be achieved while maintaining a controlled and natural presentation.
-
The audio path is built around discrete operational amplifiers selected for high headroom, low distortion, very high slew rate and wide bandwidth. Besides providing the necessary dynamic range for professional mastering applications, the discrete amplifier stages contribute a subtle analog character without compromising transparency.
-
All operating parameters are controlled by precision low-friction rotary switches. Unlike conventional potentiometers or most rotary switches, these switches are virtually wear-free, provide a consistent tactile feel and enable precise, repeatable settings. Their stepped operation makes recalling sessions straightforward and ensures identical settings can be reproduced at any time.
-
The integrated sidechain section extends the flexibility of the compressor without complicating operation.
A switchable High-Pass Filter prevents excessive low-frequency content from dominating the detector circuit, preserving low-end impact while maintaining consistent compression behaviour.
The Mix control enables parallel compression directly within the analog domain by blending the processed and unprocessed signals with correct amplitude.
A dedicated Gain Reduction Limiter defines the maximum amount of compression applied, providing an additional level of control during demanding program material and helping to preserve natural dynamics.
-
The BA-210 employs relay-controlled hard bypass for the complete signal path as well as for every individual processing stage. This guarantees uncompromised signal integrity whenever processing is disabled and allows immediate, reliable A/B comparisons during critical mixing and mastering decisions.

The mechanical design of the BA-210 follows the same principles as its electronic architecture: functionality, precision and longevity.
The front panel layout is intentionally clear and uncluttered, allowing immediate orientation and efficient operation. Related controls are logically grouped to support a fast workflow without unnecessary visual distraction.
All control knobs have been designed in-house and are machined from solid aluminum. Their geometry and surface finish were developed to provide precise handling, consistent tactile feedback and long-term durability.
The enclosure is a custom-designed construction manufactured specifically for the BA-210. Every mechanical component has been selected with the same emphasis on precision, robustness and manufacturing quality as the electronic circuitry.
